My Darling Week 1

YAY to new post series! I can’t wait to start sharing my weekly recap’s with you all. Even though it’s gloomy today and raining in the Atl, it’s still been a great week.  This Darling Week I:

– Walked 53 miles with Fitbit. Thank you to Courtney from Pizzazzerie for sharing her fitbit picture on Instagram. I totally had to run out and get one and I’ve been using it for a few weeks. This week I walked 53 miles {patting myself on the back}

– I hoped over to Mom and Munchkins and shared a little about myself & Deliciously Darling! Huge thank you to Cheryl for the sweet feature.

– Booked a trip to Disney! Officially. Restaurants  tickets, activities  check! Just a tip, if you are planning a Disney vacay then book & plan early! Restaurants start taking reservations 180 days in advance.

– Baked 4 dozen Peanut Butter Cup cookies, why? Does anyone need a reason for cookies?

– Started making my must-purchase list for my Blissdom Conference trip, I started with this and this. Sharing more on Blissdom very soon!

– Met up with Mandy from Waiting on Martha at Roswell Provisions. I ordered some amazing goodies from her shop & can’t wait to get my hands on them!

King Cake Pops

Can you believe that Mardi Gras is tomorrow!? Sharing a quick and easy Mardi Gras Treat – King Cake Pops! I adore King Cake. Just adore it. On a side note: I’m totally itching to try to make my own king cake tomorrow, I’m eyeing this recipe. 

To make these King Cake Pops you don’t have to bake your own King Cake. A store bought one is just fine. My kids and I love the King Cake from Publix.  Another side note: This is a great idea for King Cake leftovers!


1 – Cut the king cake into pieces & throw into your food process & pulse

2 – Scoop out the dough using a cookie scoop & roll into a ball

3 – Place cake balls into your freezer for 5 minutes. While you are doing this you will want to melt your Candy Melts per the instructions on the bag. Note: if your candy melts are thick you might want to add a little crisco shorting to it which acts as a thinning agent.

4 – Dip the end of a paper straw into the candy melts and insert in your cake pop. Let the chocolate harden a bit before you dunk in your cake pop.

5 – Cover in sprinkles & Enjoy!






As we are taking down Christmas decorations, re-organizing our lives, making new resolutions and trying really hard to stick to them – I just wanted to take a minute and reflect. I’m so Thankful for so many things:

Thankful for my two little boys, my angels

Thankful for my supportive hubby that encourages me to pursue my dreams

Thankful for heath, happiness & laughter

Thankful for new friends

Thankful for new experiences

Thankful for all my Deliciously Darling clients, supporters and party gals

Thankful for a wonderful 2012 and looking forward to an amazing 2013.

Styled Shoot, Behind-the-Scenes

When people find out that I’m an Event planner, decor designer & stylist they automatically think that life’s a party. Okay it is, but seriously there is a lot of running around and setting up when it comes to putting together all the beautiful little details. Today, I wanted to take you Behind-the-Scenes of a recent Deliciously Darling Events styled shoot. Before I go there, the glittery picture above was taken by my sweet photographer, Lauren of Lauren Nicole Studios. She is a genius and such a sweet friend. I brought tons of glitter to the shoot {surprise, surprise} and I asked her to take a glitter picture of me before we wrapped. I’ve seen these pics floating around Pinterest and had to have one of myself. Usually, I look like a hot mess the day of the shoot so don’t judge. Love how it turned out {Note: I edited the picture a darker so that the glitter pops!} but I’m so planning on doing it again but with more glitter next time. Recommendation: Run out and grab chunky Martha Stewart Glitter from Michaels Craft Store. Don’t attempt with fine glitter or it will end up in your eyes and you will have a glitter mustache. Trust me.

Back to the Styled shoots are a less intense then actual events, so when I get the opportunity, I jump at the chance to put together a shoot. This one happens to be for a local Atlanta events magazine. The day before the shoot consisted of my running around: last minute ribbon pick up {just in case we might need it – did we use it? no}, dessert pick ups and packing up supplies. My friends joke that the day before an event  I suit up in my “jogging” suit so I hustle around town as a work out substitute.  So true – those crates of supplies and cake stands are heavy therefore workout accomplished. Here’s a my day as a party-hustler, even my little sweet munchkin joined in the fun:

True Blood Desserts

Yesterday, I shared the recap of my True Blood Party and today it’s on to the Fangtastic True Blood Desserts!!! I’m honored & excited that Amy Atlas Events shared this party on her blog last week. I love that my party kicked off her official Countdown to Halloweekend.

So let’s start off by talking about these fondant toppers by Lynlee’s Petite Cakes!!! Incredible. I love it when I can explain my vision and someone just comes in and nails it (or in this case “stakes” it). Lynlee also created the beautiful Vampire Authority pendant that went on my center ruby red ribbon cake. She based it off of a picture of my Lilith necklace {Yes, I actually went to the HBO shop and bought a Lilith necklace and yes, it is awesome}.

Let’s talk about these cakes!!!! I joke that Kathi from My Sweet Things is a Buttercream Goddess but she really is. Look at how incredible these ruffle, petal & ribbon cakes look! I feel super lucky that she lives in Atlanta and creates such amazing pieces of edible art for me! Not only are the cakes gorgeous they are delicious.

I always craft for my parties. I actually love crafting. It de-stresses me and allows me to channel my creative energy. For this party, I created the blood wicked backdrop & the cake stand riser. I made the backdrop using two pieces of black foam board (from Hobby Lobby). Ducktape the two pieces of foam board together and begin dripping “blood” (aka red paint). I used Martha Stewart’s glittery red enamel from Home Depot. While the paint is still wet, give it light dusting of glitter. Scrapbook paper was used to create the paper fans and finished off with a 6″ True Blood Inspired printable from Frog Prince Paperie. The cake stand riser was actually an awesome craft and I will create a step by step tutorial very soon!

Back to the desserts! The table featured the Trio of cakes, red velvet cupcakes, peanut butter cupcakes, beautiful chocolate covered oreos {by Janet from Sweet Temptations},  Bloody Panna Cotta, Compton’s Cheesecake {with salted caramel & raspberry sauce}, Deader than Dirt cups, and homemade french macarons.
