DeliciouslyDarling_TrickorTreat_KidsParty_1

Hey Last Minute Mama’s!!! This October has been a whirlwind hasn’t it? Between family fall fun activities and life, I feel like this has been one crazy month. So here’s some last minute inspiration for you and your little ones. In classic Halloween Orange & Black {Orange is after all the new black}. Super simple & easy to recreate with what you have at home. I absolutely love that this whole theme was inspired by a single roll of Trick or Treat ribbon from Michaels! Love it!

Last minute mama random thoughts & tips: don’t have fabric table runner? No problem, a roll of fun wrapping paper will make the perfect runner. No time to bake cookies?! Neither did I! Loved using this cookie decorating kit from Target, complete with sprinkles & frosting. One more last minute decorating tip: pumpkins are the perfect decor item. Mini pumpkins are fab. Not only are they inexpensive but they are everywhere. You can use them to decorate kids table or as a craft activity {just add glitter glue & googly eyes}.

Hope I’ve inspired you all have a fun lil’ Orange and Black! PS: Vendor Credits & Pin-able collages below.

Pink and Gold Confetti Nursery

Deliciously Darling | Pink and Gold Nursery

So excited to  share my sweet baby girl’s Pink and Gold Confetti Nursery today. A little background, I have two boys – 7 and 5 so when I found out I was having a girl I instantly knew her room would be pink, pink and more pink. My first stop was Pottery Barn Kids. I grabbed their solid pink bed sheet and decided that I’d match the walls to the fabric. Thankfully, Pottery Barn Kids is way ahead of us and has collaborated with Sherwin Williams to make matching paints. Once I got the paint home my husband said “are you sure you want to paint the walls Pepto Bism0l Pink?” Um, yeah. I totes do. As he is not one to argue with a pregnant lady the walls in the nursery became pink. Hope you enjoy the pics and check out more DIY details below!

I wanted the Nursery to be this happy place. A place that would make me smile when I’m changing the baby’s diaper at 3am. Confetti makes me smile so naturally that means gold Confetti Walls.  With my trusty Silhouette Cameo machine, I cut over 200 two inch gold vinyl circles. It was so easy to do and such an inexpensive way to jazz up the nursery.

I’m all for a DIY nursery, i feel like it makes the room so personal. I made the little gold lamb mobile out of twine, an embroidery hoop, glitter wrapping paper and glitter tape. It’s so glittery – I just love it. I also made the gorgeous pink ombre paper wreath that hangs above the changing table. A little DIY project that cost around $4.00 for me to make. I reused an old wreath that I had from a past event, added crepe paper and tons and tons of beautiful paper flowers. I’m such a fan of my Silhouette Cameo machine. I love that I can use it to make everything from paper lambs to paper flowers.

My absolute favorite item in the nursery is the “For Like Ever” print. I saw a pink and red version on pinterest and once I found out the seller had a gold version I was sold. Looks so cool. I’m picturing Ally college bound and the one thing she grabs from her childhood room (for her dorm room) is this poster. Ha.

Moving on to the furniture situation. I was very fortunate that I kept all of the nursery furniture from my two boys. The crib, sofa, night stand, changing table, rocking lamb and rocking chair were from my first son so they are about 7 years old. The thought crossed my mind to get a new more modern rocking chair but I opted to keep and use what I have. After all, I was having a girl and she would get new everything so having hand-me-down furniture is totally okay. I loved adding new little items to the nursery. The dollhouse book shelf was my absolute must. I searched everywhere for an affordable version and found this one at Target for $99.00. Kate Spade apple bank, an antique tea set, vintage looking hard cover books, baby books from her brothers and pink chevron baskets fill the shelves. Another new nursery addition is the gold Moroccan pouf. “Does the baby need a pouf” asks my husband. Of course she does! Can’t wait for her one year pictures when I plop her on top of it. Giggle.

I hope you enjoyed the little peek into our sweet baby girl’s nursery.

The Lego Movie Birthday Party

Deliciously Darling | The Lego Movie | Birthday Party |

My son is Lego obsessed. All day, every day – Legos, Legos, Legos. After watching The Lego Movie he knew he wanted it as his birthday theme. This year we kept it simple but just as awesome! Enjoy the pictures and check out the details below.

Normally mama goes all out for Malik’s birthday party, but this year was different. We had a new baby and so it had to be an easier party to put together. Throwing a party, however small is a challenge with a 5 week old and two big brothers! Thankfully, my sweet cousin Reema was there to help me bake & set up.

Malik really wanted to have his party at Lego Land Discovery Center. Having a party out of the house is definitely easier but I didn’t want it to loose that personal touch that at home parties have. Working within their rules, I was able to come up with a fun and creative The Lego Movie inspired party.

Tablescape
The party room was so colorful. The tables and chairs were in bright colors so I didn’t need to add much. I opted for paper table runners. I love Targets party section. There are these rolls of wrapping paper that are $1.50 each. They are the perfect width for a table runner and come in fun colors and patterns. I used the orange diagonal  stripe paper for the tables.

I made simple center pieces using gumballs and yellow ceramic berry baskets. I added a homemade paper “Emmett” holding a flag that said “Happy Birthday Malik”. I would have loved to add some colorful balloons but balloons were not allowed in the party room.

I made lego men decals out of red glitter vinyl and put them on cute little milk bottles that I purchased from the Petite Party Studio shop. I also got the cool red plates from there. The red stripe wooden forks were from The Sucre Shop. I adore their wooden cutlery!

Finally, I added a crinkle taffeta chair sash to each chair. I have a box of chair sashes from parties past and thought, “why not”?!

Desserts
The Lego Discovery Center staff was so amazing. They let me set up a little mini dessert table. The most challenging part was to keep things simple. Simple desserts and super simple decor.

In the spirit of simplicity. I made only a handful of desserts. My cousin made the delicious French vanilla cupcakes topped with chocolate lego bricks. Chocolate covered marshmallows with mini chocolate lego figures, jello cups with chocolate lego figures and amazing Lego Movie sugar cookies {made by the always awesome Sandy from Firefly Confections}. Just to let you know how much I adore Sandy because she sends me texts like “I only work in black and sometimes very very dark grey”.  LOL. I heart her!

The blue butter cream cake was made by My Sweet Things. I know, swirls for a boy but I think it works so well. Malik really wanted a blue cake this year. I topped the cake with two lego movie character plastic figures {they are actually pens so “yay” for an added bonus of being useful} and a little Happy Birthday flag.

Favors
I’m a firm believer in useful favors. Each kid took home a personalized beach bucket filled with goodies. A Lego Movie sketch / sticker book, homemade lego crayons, a Lego Movie mini figure, and a pencil. I wish I was the genius who thought of the homemade lego crayons – that honor goes to Anders Ruff. They have an awesome tutorial on their site if you want to learn how to make them yourself. Warning, making lego crayons is totally addictive. I had plans on making only a few colors and that morphed into 6 colors.

I hope you enjoyed our “Everything is Awesome” Lego Movie party inspiration! Spaceships, Spaceships, Spaceships!!!

Red, White and Blue Desserts

If you are anything like me, when it comes to Holiday meal planning the first thing I think of is desserts. With a name like Deliciously Darling it’s not surprising. Here are a few of my go-to’s for 4th of July. Berry Trifle – super easy to do: pound cake, fresh whipped cream and berries. French Macarons, I know aren’t very 4th of July but when colored blue I think they fit beautiful! Finally star sugar cookies.

Lactation Cookie Recipe {Gluten Free Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk}

Deliciously Darling || Gluten Free Lactation Cookies || Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk

Where do I begin this post?! I’m currently breastfeeding my 3rd child. I’m sleep deprived and I feel like a walking food truck. Breastfeeding did not come easy to me. I’ve been through my fair share of supply issues, of exhaustion and frustration when it comes to nursing / pumping.

I’ve tried every little trick to boost supply and I’ve found what works for me: Drinking lots of water, pumping after nursing the baby, taking Fenugreek supplements and eating lactation cookies. If you have ever ordered lactation cookies, you know they are expensive. I can’t justify ordering them when I can just as easily make them! It took a few rounds to perfect the recipe but I just love this Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk cookie. It’s so easy to make, pretty healthy and helps you make more milk.

Deliciously Darling || Gluten Free Lactation Cookies || Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk

Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Lactation Cookies {Gluten Free}

Yields approximately 32 cookies depending on thickness

Ingredients:

¼  cup of butter {I used a 1/4th cup of coconut oil but If you don’t like coconut taste then stick to butter}

1 ¼ tsp of baking soda

2 ½ tbsp of brewer’s yeast

3 tbsp of milled flax seed

½ cup of natural sugar

¾ cup of brown sugar

3 cups of Rolled Oats {I used trader joes brand}

6 oz of chocolate chips {I used trader joes chocolate chunks}

1 cup of peanut butter {optional – if you don’t like PB or have an allergy, don’t use}

2 eggs

1 tbsp of vanilla extract

1 tbsp of water

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine the butter and brown sugar. Beat until creamy. Add the sugar, eggs, baking soda and vanilla extract and mix well. Add the flax seed, water, brewer’s yeast and peanut butter and mix well. Now it’s time to add your oats & chocolate chunks.  Use a spatula and fold until mixture is combined. Use a small cookie scoop and pack the dough into the scoop. Note:

The tighter you pack your dough the more round the cookies will remain during baking. Place scooped dough on a cookie sheet with parchment paper about 2 inches apart. If not using parchment paper then lightly grease your cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly brown around the edges.

Deliciously Darling || Gluten Free Lactation Cookies || Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk

Tips

I love my cookies to be a bit rounder – they stay moist and don’t harden as fast as flatter cookies do. If you have a hard time getting your cookie to stay round then put dough in fridge to harden a bit before baking.

Also, I’ve heard that eating the cookie raw will give you more of a milk boost. If that’s the case, I’d leave out the eggs and add in a few more table spoons of water. I’d rather not chance getting sick of raw egg.

Finally a little note on brewers yeast. No it’s not baking yeast, not even in the baking isle of the super market. This is a supplement and I was able to find it at my natural foods store but you can find it online here.

Feel free to experiment with this recipe. Add in peanut butter cups or nuts or cranberries. The awesome thing is you can make it your own. Just remember the key milk making ingredients are the brewers yeast, the flax seed and the oats. Happy Milk Making and remember to #hangintheremama you got this! Leaving you with a little instagram pic below of my girl’s little chunky monkey thighs. Follow me on instagram for more adorable pics!

The Great Bambino Predicts Gender Reveal Party

The-Great-Bambino-Predicts-Cover

Hello Loves! I has literally been forever!!!!! Life has definitely gotten in the way of blogging. Let me fill you in…

Last June I was happily blogging. In July we discovered that I was expecting a baby. Long story short. It was an extremely exhausting pregnancy and my two boys didn’t take it easy on their expecting mama. I decided to put my passion aside to focus on my family and growing a cute baby. Many months pass and our little one arrives and I’m finally ready to get back into the swing of things.

That being said, it’s totally impossible for me not make it through a pregnancy and not throw a party or two! So ready to share them with you all.  First up is my Gender Reveal party. I love the idea of a gender reveal party. I know it’s the trendy thing to do at the moment but it is such a fun way to share your baby joy with your friends and family. I must have sat for weeks thinking about what theme will be. Off the beaten path, I decided on a Fortune Teller theme. But what to call my amazing talented Fortune Teller? The Great Bambino of course! Check out the gorgeous pictures & details below:

Graphics & Printables

When I started planning this gender reveal, I knew I wanted the party to have a vintage feel and remind me of the old school fortune teller machines (a la Zoltar in the movie Big). I asked Gretchen from Three Little Monkey Studio to create the printables and asked Kori from Kori Clark Design to create the illustrations. Gretchen is absolutely awesome. I love her design style (and parties). She has this ability to take a bunch of my rambling ideas and create the most amazing printables and Mrs. Kori is beyond words. I just love that I requested a “Zoltar-esque” Fortune teller graphic and she made the most awesome dude! Seriously talented. I’m so very fortunate that I got the chance to meet both these amazing ladies!

Dessert Table

Where to start!? How about with the beautiful table cover? Thank you to Jeanette from The Candy Crush shop. She sent over her beautiful gold sequin linen. I just love it. Desserts included, gender reveal cake, chocolate covered oreos, whoopie pies, homemade french macarons, oreo parfaits, sugar cookies and cupcakes. The Gender Reveal cake was created by Kathi from My Sweet Things – isn’t it just gorgeous. The Brown Sugar Caramel Cupcakes were made by Chris from Ratio Bake Shop. I have to say, hands down, these are the best cupcakes I’ve ever tasted. Chris is a phenomenal pastry chef & baker. The sugar cookies were made by my sweet friend Deb from Yummy Delicious Cookies. I just love the gold question mark cookies.

For the backdrop I used an old gold frame that I have and layered natural linen fabric behind it to appear curtain-like. I made the awesome “Bambino” marquee out of mache boxes, tons of gold glitter & christmas lights. I have to thank Gretchen for this incredible idea. She was sweet enough to share some of her tips in making the marquee letters. I also added some black and gold signage. Love how “The Great Bambino Predicts… Boy or Girl” backdrop turned out.

Champagne Bar

Pop the champagne! I love the idea of a champagne bar, even at a baby shower or gender reveal. Some of my tips to a cute champagne display: Custom Glasses, Glittery items and custom straws.  I jazzed up plastic champagne flutes with vinyl question marks. Used glitter wrapping paper as the runner and added glitter to the sign frame. Finally, adorable paper straws with Baby’s Future Prediction Flags. I love that Gretchen created straw flags that say things like “Future Donut Tycoon” and “Roller Coaster Tester”. I love little detailed touches and this is one that I really loved.

Guessing Table & Favors

Part of a hosting a gender reveal is having guests vote / guess the baby’s gender. This was my favorite part of the night. My guests each grabbed a ticket. I love how the tickets were so personalized – Gretchen did an amazing job. Our friends circled their predictions and placed them in The Great Bambino’s bowl. {Side Note: Vinyl is my new favorite craft item. I used it to make a question mark to jazz up an old candy bowl}. At the end of the night we tallied up the votes and cut the cake to reveal the gender.

The guessing table also displayed a few sweet treats for guests to take home.  Guests got to take home gumballs, Hershey’s kisses and chocolate cigars (and lots of desserts). Huge thank you to Jeanette from the Candy Crush Shop for sending over gumball favors and chevron treat bags.

Now the big reveal! The Great Bambino Predicts… It’s a Girl!

Wreck-it Ralph Party – Sugar Rush Dessert Table {Part 2}

Wreck it Ralph Party | #deliciouslydarling #wreckitralph #desserts

Whooho for Part 2! Sharing the rest of our super awesome Wreck-it Ralph party today. The Sugar Rush dessert table. Side note, here’s part 1 of the Wreck-it Ralph party.

For those of you who haven’t watched Wreck-it Ralph, Sugar Rush Speedway is a racing game but based in a land where everything and pretty much everyone is made of sweets. That’s my kind of game! I tried to recreate the feel of the race. From the paper lollipops and candy in the grandstands to the awesome little race cars. In the Sugar Rush clouds are actually cotton candy clouds, donuts are police men and oreos are solders that guard King Candy.

I hope you enjoy my take on a Sugar Rush dessert table. Details & Vendor info below.

Dessert Table Details

I am so fortunate to work with an amazing group of vendors – seriously amazing. Their work literally floors me. So let’s start with the cake! I found a gorgeous picture of a rainbow petal cake on pinterest & sent it to my sweet & uber talented butter-cream friend Kathi from My Sweet Things. Not only are Kathi’s cakes a work of art, they are incredibly delicious and the only cake my kids request for their birthdays. Kathi whipped up this beautiful rainbow petal cake.

My son, Jad, also requested a Ralph sitting on top of his cake. Maria from Love & Sugar Kisses created the most amazing fondant Ralph! He looks absolutely perfect sitting on top of that rainbow cake holding a little pie. Maria is so talented. I just love her. She also created those yummy gold chocolate covered oreos with Wreck-it Ralph characters on top. Ins’t Fix-it Felix so cute? On a side note, I have to set aside one chocolate covered oreo for mama to enjoy the day after the party with my coffee. Yum.

Don’t you just love the Ralph inspired Fondant toppers by Lynlee’s Petite Cake? I am so grateful that Lynlee took time out of her super busy schedule {if you didn’t know she’s working on her first book, can’t wait to get my hands on it!} to create these cupcake toppers which featured: Sonic, Ralph, Vanellope, Cherries, Sour Bill, Qubert and lots of other Ralph-tastic movie icons. Brittany, from Edible Details created the most amazing fondant hero medals, hammers & humongous pies! I just love how real her toppers look. The detail on the medals is incredible!

Let’s take a minute to talk about the Sugar Racers Sugar Cookies by Sandy of Firefly Confections. Seriously Amazeballs! The detail on her cookies is astounding. So intricate and such a work of art, I literally have a hard time eating her cookies. Not because they aren’t super delicious it’s because they are so incredible, too pretty to eat.

The darling “You’re My Hero” Sugar cookies were created by Deb from Yummy Delicious Cookies. Deb is so so so sweet and her cookies are beyond delicious. My kids {and I} just love them.

My sweet friend Stacy from She’s Kinda Crafty added some awesome to the Sugar Rush Dessert table. She created the “Start / Finish” Line. I just LOVE the glitter card stock and was honored she said she added the glitter just for me. Giggle, she knows me well. Glitter makes everything better. The race cars look so good on the yellow felt racetrack next to the starting line!

In addition to all the above the dessert table also included: rainbow jello, oreo cheesecakes and cotton candy cupcakes. So what’s my favorite part of this dessert table? I have to say it’s the paper oreo’s protecting the chocolate covered oreos. I swear, sometimes I only do things to make myself laugh and I found this hysterical.

As always, thank you thank you thank you to my incredible photographer & friend Lauren. She captures everything so perfectly and makes me look good. Thank you Lauren!

Wreck It Ralph Birthday Party {Part 1}

Wreck it Ralph Party | #deliciouslydarling

I’m Gonna Wreck-It! So excited to share part 1 of my son’s Wreck-it Ralph Birthday party with you all today. My son Jad, whom we joke is “Jad the Distroyer” loves to wreck stuff. Lego buildings don’t stand a chance when Jad’s around. So when we went to see “Wreck-it Ralph” in the movie theaters I instantly knew Jad would want a “Gonna Wreck-It” birthday party. Sure enough, a few months later he asked mama for both a Ralph & Sugar Rush birthday party.

What I love about the Wreck-it Ralph movie is there is so much inspiration to pull from: The Fix-it Felix Jr Game, Game Central Station, Sugar Rush and Bad Anon where just a few of the elements I brought to life. I hope you enjoy the pictures and details below.

Tablescape

My son equally loves Fix-it Felix Jr & Ralph so I wanted the tables to reflect that. My inspiration came from the Fix-it Felix Jr Game. Lots of reds {for Ralph} and Blues {for Felix}. The building centerpieces were created to look like the Nicelander’s building that Ralph wrecks every game. Each building had 40 little di-cut windows & doors. The centerpieces were finished off with large blue balloons and amazing custom balloon tassels from The Flair Exchange. I love the shades of blue, gold, white & red in the tassels. They really brings the colors together perfectly.

Each plate had a bright blue bottle of Fix-it Pop. The labels & printables were created by Piggy Bank Parties. Not only are they a joy to work with but Team Piggy Bank is incredibly talented. They took my “vision” and perfectly turned it into reality. The Felix bottle labels are my favorite! Let’s talk about the custom cutlery by Sucre Shop! I seriously squealed when the “Gonna Wreck It” forks & spoons arrived. Custom cutlery just makes any event that much better.

Game Central Station

In the movie, Game Central Station is the terminal in which game characters can go from game to game. I really wanted to kids to feel like they walked into Game Central Station. We have Tappers, the root beer float game complete with actual root beer floats. I just love the Tappers stickers!

Next we have Bad Anon. In the movie the bad guys go to a Bad Anonymous meeting where they say their pledge & talk about taking it one game at a time. Chairs with Ralph, Saitine {aka Satan}, Zombie & Zangief were set up around the ridiculously awesome Bad Anon poster by Piggy Bank Parties! Seriously, it’s amazing. I actually laughed during the party when I noticed that some of the kids came over and just started hanging out in “Bad Anon”.

All the sweet Sugar Rush characters make an appearance in Game Central Station. For more Sugar Rush cuteness you have to check back tomorrow when I’ll be sharing the whole dessert table set up.

Activities

Since Jaddy’s birthday is in the summer we always go with a water party. The kids had the most amazing time playing in the various pools, water tables & huge inflatable slip n’ slide. Mama had to fight the urge not to slide down with the kids. They had such a blast.

The kids also had fun with the homemade Wreck-it Ralph game. I wrapped 8 large boxes with Brick paper then added windows and a door. Using Ralph hands, also from the Disney Store, the kids wrecked the building. They had a blast trying to see if they could knock the building down with one punch. It was a fun activity.

The kids also had a chance to sit down & craft a little. Cardboard hearts with string, that resemble the “You’re my Hero” necklace from the movie, were decorated with stickers, glitter and crayons. It’s a fun and inexpensive craft.

Favors

Each kiddo took home their very own gold bucket that contained a Sugar Rush plush, gumballs, skittles & a lollipop. I actually sprayed the buckets gold and then added a little gold glitter because everything is better with glitter. *wink*. The buckets were finished off with a Sugar Rush inspired label that says “Everyone Loves an Adorable Winner”. As for the stand all the favors are on – it used to be green, fast forward 3 cans of spray paint later – it’s gold & glittery & perfect.

Monsters University Party

Monsters University Party #deliciouslydarling

My kiddos love animated movies. I’m actually not sure who loves these movies more, the kids or mama. We wanted to celebrate the upcoming Monsters University movie with a little MU Play Date. Inspired by The Celebrations Shoppe, Lynlee’s Petite CakesLaura’s Little Party instagram post, I decided to put together a sweet little dessert table for my kiddos play date.

So why do a dessert table on a couch? Answer: Why not? I’ve always wanted to set up a dessert display on a couch. This couch is perfection – white & leather so it’s easy to clean post play date. I wanted a simple, inexpensive & easy dessert set up. I opted for dressing up store bought cupcakes with monster eyes & using store bought sugar cookies. How perfect are the sully & mike cookies from Target? Chocolate covered oreo pops & brownie push up pops, sparkling fruit water were also featured. Wrap a few books in scrapbook paper and washi tape a Mike Wazowski to the couch and you have an instant party.

“Scream Like Monster”. I did a little research and loved the “Scream like Monster” tag line on the marketing posters for Monsters University. I fought the urge to insert an “A” into the banner while making it. Just before the play date, my son Malik walks up to me and says “Love the banner mom but you forgot an A. It should be ‘scream like A monster’ not ‘scream like monster’”. LOL. You never argue with a soon-to-be 1st grader when they are correcting you on your English.

I just couldn’t say no to the adorable Monsters U letter Jackets my kiddos are sporting. I know it’s like 100 degrees outside but they are going to be perfect for the fall when they return back to school.

I hope you enjoy & are inspired to put together your own “Scream Like Monster” party.

4th of July Dessert Table- Let Freedom Ring

Deliciously Darling | 4th of July | Let Freedom Ring | Desserts

Let Freedom Ring!!! So very excited to share my 4th of July collaboration with Rebekah from A Blissful Nest with you all today. I had the opportunity to get to know Rebekah at BlissDom this past year. She is such an amazing & talented woman! She created this amazing printables vintage inspired set  - with dark blue, red & tan. I literally jumped up and down once I got the files & decided to add a little gold into the mix. I hope you enjoy this “Let Freedom Ring” 4th of July Inspiration.

Desserts:

This super patriotic dessert table has lots of red, white & blue {and glitter too}. I started with an amazing bit of fabric – a gold dot burlap – that I found at Joanne’s Fabric. Once I found the gold fabric, I knew I wanted to pair gold details with the dessert table, from the gold glittered frame to the gold glitter star spoons. I went for traditional 4th of July desserts like: Berry Trifle, Patriotic Jello & Berries and mixed in some Salted Caramel Macarons. I can’t resist adding them in. Fresh berries in adorable little tasting cups, yummy sugar cookies, caramel corn & cupcakes rounded out this delicious dessert table.

Just a side note: I really loved making the Berry Trifle. It was incredibly easy & delicious. Lots of fresh berries, cool whip & yummy pound cake. You can make it ahead of time and it’s great for large gatherings.

Hanging above the dessert table are 3 adorable hanging tassels from The Flair Exchange. The shades of blue in the tassels really helped pull together the various blues used in the desserts. I also added 4 star garlands from target. Not only were they affordable but really adorable. I replaced the silver star with a gold star and it fit my table perfectly!

Need an idea on what to give your guests as a favor? Mason jars with marshmallows, chocolate & graham crackers are the perfect “S’mores-to-go” favor. They look so darling with star parchment paper, tied with twine & a tag .

I really hope you  are inspired for your your own 4th of July party.

True Blood Inspired Vampire Vanilla Raspberry Parfait

Deliciously Darling | True Blood Inspired Dessert | Vampire Vanilla Raspberry ParfaitRaise your hand if you are excited about the new season of True Blood? Am I the only one raising my hand? It’s no secret that I’m a huge True Blood Fan, Team Eric {of course since Vampire Bill is now Billith}. This weekend is the Season Premiere, so I’m celebrating with a simple & yummy Vampire Inspired Dessert – Vampire Vanilla Raspberry Parfait.

If you need more True Blood Inspiration, check out last year’s dessert table & party – part 1 and part 2.

Deliciously Darling | True Blood Inspired Dessert | Vampire Vanilla Raspberry Parfait

Vampire Vanilla Raspberry Parfait

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 ounce) package instant Jello vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 – 16 ounce (or 4 – 8 ounce) containers Cool Whip
  • 1 Pound cake
  • 1 Jar of Raspberry Preserves

Directions

  1. Cut the pound cake into small cubes. I love the Trader Joes brand pound cake so that’s what I used with this recipe. Set aside after cutting.
  2. Pour 1 package of instant vanilla pudding into a large bowl and fold in the two large containers of cool whip. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In your glass, scoop one teaspoon of Raspberry preserves at the bottom, followed by the pound cake cubes then topped with the pudding mixture. You may want to continue layering the raspberry, cake & pudding until you’ve reached the top of your glass. My glasses are shallow so only one layer of each was needed.
  4. Top off with raspberry preserves & grab a tooth pick & swirl the berry & pudding together to form a design.
  5. Enjoy!

Note: I realize this make a lot of pudding! To cut down use only 1 large package of cool whip to about 1/2 package of instant pudding.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Inspired Birthday Party

Deliciously Darling | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cake

So excited to {finally} share my son Malik’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party! Let’s rewind back to September 2012. Malik was watching Saturday morning cartoons and saw a commercial for the new TMNT cartoons. He then turned to me and said “Mama, I want a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party for my Birthday”. In my head I’m thinking “Wow, he’s an early planner like his mama. A chip off the ol’ party planner’s shoulder”. Then he continued, “I think everyone will want a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Birthday Party so I want to have one. It’s going to be Epic”. I actually stopped sipping coffee at this point and laughed for probably a solid 3 minutes. LOL, He’s such a trend predictor. So his 6th birthday party {that’s a good 7 months away} needs to be Epic & have lots of Turtle Power.

I was so excited about this theme! My hubby & I grew up on the old school TMNT cartoons. I even remember the show where they tried to make the turtles “real” by having guys wear costumes. I digress. It became the question of which route do I go? The edgy new turtles or the adorable old school turtles? So fast forward to April 2013 – Malik had his Epic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party, with both old school turtles references & new school turtles. Best of both worlds. I totally hope you enjoy the radical pictures below dudes! Cowabunga!

Tablescape

My son loves pizza and well Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love pizza so naturally I had to add the pizza element in thus “Malikangelo’s Pizzeria” was born. The apple green plates fit so perfectly with the green linens & apple soda. A “shell-tastic” muslin drawstring pouch held the most adorable stamped cutlery from the Sucre Shop. I just love how adorable the forks are. Hobnail vases filled with orange & yellow ranunculus and finished with a sewer cap pizzeria sign made the perfect centerpieces.

Dessert Table

Keeping with the Pizzeria theme, I wanted the dessert table to feel like you were in the sewer. I found the perfect brick fabric that served as the backdrop. Glittered PVC pieces came together to form a really cool looking sewer pipes. The first thing that catches my eye is the amazing cake! Two amazing vendors came together to create straight up gorgeousness. Brenda from Sugar High Inc is such a talented artist. She created the huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake topper. Amazing right? Kathi from My Sweet Things made the delicious & equally adorable ombre petal cake. Intricate TMNT cookies from Firefly Confections were incredible. The Marshmallow pops, created by Alejandra from the Marshmallow Studio were the hit of the party. I just loved the adorable little chocolate covered oreos with turtles on top. The dessert table also featured: pizza sugar cookies, oreo pudding cups, ooze push up pops {aka lime jello}, chocolate turtle lollipops and cupcakes with amazing fondant toppers.

Craft Activity

I have to have a craft at each one of my parties. What better craft then to decorate a little green backpack? Thank You to Mariah from Giggles Galore for helping me brainstorm & suggesting the craft at Blissdom. The little backpacks had shell stencils ironed on to them so the kids then brushed on the fabric paint, peeled off the stencil then added their own touch. It was really cool to see all the different backpacks the kids created.

 Additional Activities

In addition to crafting the kids had such an amazing time on the Inflatable Obstacle course. There may or may not have been a few parents sprinting through it at the end of the party. That may or may not have been me.

We ended the perfect party with a Ninja Turtle Pinata  A pinata that was made by Mama. Back-story: My son came into my studio and requested a Turtle Pinata. The thought of kids with bats kind of terrified me so I began the search for a pull string pinata  Unable to find one that Malik & I liked he asked me to make it. So adorable how he thinks I can make anything. Challenge accepted. I think it turned out pretty awesome. There will totally be a blog post tutorial on how you can make your own pinata.

Favors

Each kiddo took home a Pizza box filled with goodies. I’m a fan of useful party favors so the TMNT coloring books, pen & stickers were just perfect. The kids also filled their pizza boxes with TMNT cookies, marshmallow pops and bottles of gumballs from the dessert table.

That’s a Wrap

I hope you loved the gorgeous images, from the talented Lauren of Lauren Nicole Studios. HUGE thank you to my amazing vendors. You guys make me look good. The level of talent seriously amazes me and I’m honored to have a chance to work with them. Also, please don’t forget to pre-order The Marshmallow Studio’s new book so you can learn how to make amazing marshmallow pops too: http://martshmallows.com/

Retro Pink & Mint Ice-Cream Parlour

Deliciously Darling | Pink & Mint Retro Ice Cream Parlour Dessert Table

As soon as the flowers start to bloom and the leaves start to grow I immediately begin to crave ice-cream. I think I speak for children of the world when I say “We all scream for Ice-cream”.

I wanted this ice-cream table to have a retro feel but a modern touch. I went with a jade green, pink & silver color pallet – pink for the girls and green to appeal to our boys. I’ve been wanting to do this color combination for the longest time. So when Bird {from the one and only Bird’s Party Magazine} asked me to create an ice-cream dessert table – I jumped.

More details below the gorgeous pics. Big thank you to my amazing group of vendors, scroll down and show them some love.

Handmade paper plate backdrop {inspired by Blue Eyed Yonder} adds a fun element to this dessert table.

The gorgeous cake created by My Sweet Things makes the perfect focal point to the Ice-cream parlor. Little ice-cream cups filled with strawberry ice-cream, topped with a fondant cherry & ice-cream spoon look absolutely perfect.

Ice-cream pint containers with adorable ice-cream labels make the perfect favor container.

Other sweets included Vanilla Marshmallow Ice-cream cones {using the amazing recipe from SprinkleBakes }, delicious ice-cream shaped cookies, strawberry cupcakes and strawberry milk.
Pro-Tip:
When photographing ice-cream it’s best not to use real ice-cream. I used “photographer’s ice-cream” for this shoot. You will need 1 jar of frosting to 2 lbs of powdered sugar. I picked frosting that was already pink so that i could have the same consistency throughout. Eventually the frosting & the powdered sugar will combine into a dough like form. Just scoop & snap away! Looks real doesn’t it. Shhh, our little secret.
