Retro Pink & Mint Ice-Cream Parlour

Deliciously Darling | Pink & Mint Retro Ice Cream Parlour Dessert Table

As soon as the flowers start to bloom and the leaves start to grow I immediately begin to crave ice-cream. I think I speak for children of the world when I say “We all scream for Ice-cream”.

I wanted this ice-cream table to have a retro feel but a modern touch. I went with a jade green, pink & silver color pallet – pink for the girls and green to appeal to our boys. I’ve been wanting to do this color combination for the longest time. So when Bird {from the one and only Bird’s Party Magazine} asked me to create an ice-cream dessert table – I jumped.

More details below the gorgeous pics. Big thank you to my amazing group of vendors, scroll down and show them some love.

 Handmade paper plate backdrop {inspired by Blue Eyed Yonder} adds a fun element to this dessert table.

The gorgeous cake created by My Sweet Things makes the perfect focal point to the Ice-cream parlor. Little ice-cream cups filled with strawberry ice-cream, topped with a fondant cherry & ice-cream spoon look absolutely perfect.

Ice-cream pint containers with adorable ice-cream labels make the perfect favor container.

Other sweets included Vanilla Marshmallow Ice-cream cones {using the amazing recipe from SprinkleBakes }, delicious ice-cream shaped cookies, strawberry cupcakes and strawberry milk.
Pro-Tip:
When photographing ice-cream it’s best not to use real ice-cream. I used “photographer’s ice-cream” for this shoot. You will need 1 jar of frosting to 2 lbs of powdered sugar. I picked frosting that was already pink so that i could have the same consistency throughout. Eventually the frosting & the powdered sugar will combine into a dough like form. Just scoop & snap away! Looks real doesn’t it. Shhh, our little secret.

DIY Earth Day Wreath

Deliciously Darling | DIY Earth Day Wreath | Recycled

Happy Earth Day!!! The sun is shining down here in Atlanta, the birds are chirping, the pollen count is high and well it’s a beautiful day. Here’s the back story on today’s craft {yes, there is always a back story}. This past weekend was my son’s 6th birthday party. Being the party planning mom that I am, I used every cute item in my party supply stash, including some adorable wooden spoons from the Sucre Shop. Early Saturday morning, I scooped out 24 cups of ice-cream and added the adorable light green & dark green chevron spoons. Sadly, I forgot the tray in the freezer so the ice-cream was not served at the party.  Note my fabulous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle nail art below.

Deliciously Darling | DIY Earth Day Wreath | Recycled Bummed that these fabulous spoons didn’t get to play at the party – I created this DIY Earth Day wreath. Created with 16 recycled ice-cream spoons, a large paper rosette I had left over from a past photoshoot, some green twine {from Waiting on Martha}, 2″ paper circle & printable that I’m offering for free at the end of the post.  Super duper easy, check out my 4 steps below!

Deliciously Darling | DIY Earth Day Wreath | Recycled

Deliciously Darling | DIY Earth Day Wreath | Recycled

Step 1:  Using hot glue, glue your spoons together in groups of 3 to 4. Make sure to fan them out as evenly as possible. Gluing them in groups makes it easier to assemble.

Step 2: Grab your groups of spoons and start to glue them all together to form a circle.

Step 3: Grab a left over paper rosette { if you don’t have any laying around you can make one very easily by folding 3 12×12 sheets of scrapbook paper together, turning them into fans & gluing them together} and glue on a 2″ paper circle. This will serve as the base the spoon circle is glued on to.

Step 4:  Glue your spoons onto your 2″ circle.

There sort of is 1 more step but I felt it kinda common sense plus how do you fit 5 steps into the cute little picture above?! Giggle. Cut out a banner from the printable below & glue on top. Don’t forget to punch a little hole in the back of your rosette to hang. Now you are good to go!

Have you created a wreath out of recycled items? Have you forgotten to serve items at your kiddo’s birthday party? I’d love to hear all about it.

DIY Muslin Favor Bags

Deliciously Darling | DIY Muslin Bag

Happy Tuesday! Sharing an adorable DIY Muslin Favor Bag Tutorial. Confession: I’m obsessed with Muslin / Linen drawstring bags. Beyond obsessed really. How adorable are they? Super adorable. What can you put in them? Anything that will fit, from sequins / business cards to sweet treats and jewelry. Back to to the tutorial, today’s tute involves a paper punch but tomorrow I’ll share a few tips on how to create your own stencil for custom muslin bags.

Run to your nearest Micheal’s Craft Store &  Target to gather these goodies:

Deliciously Darling | DIY Muslin Bag

Materials

-    Muslin Bags {Pick your Plum}

-    Freezer Paper

-    Martha Stewart Paint

-    Martha Stewart Glitter Glue

-    Martha Stewart Paper Punch

-    Sponge Brush

Directions

Punch & Position: Cut a piece of freezer paper and put in your punch. I found that it works best if the shiny side is down while punching. Then position your design {shiny side down} on your muslin bag.

Deliciously Darling | DIY Muslin Bag

Iron, Paint, Peel & Glitter: Iron on the design and grab your sponge brush and start applying the paint lightly. Wipe off your brush so you don’t get big paint globs. Paint globs lead to smudges and just don’t look pretty. {Tip: for intricate designs, use a Q-tip}. Wait for the paint to dry and then carefully peel off the freezer paper. At this point you can proceed to the last step but if you are a glitter girl like me, grab your Martha Stewart Glitter glue tube and just dazzle it up a little.

Deliciously Darling | DIY Muslin Bag

Final Step: Pat yourself on the back. You just created some cuteness.

Stay tuned tomorrow for some Silhouette tricks on cutting custom stencils! Don’t forget to PIN THIS:

Darling BlissDom 2013 Recap

Deliciously Darling | BlissDom 2013 Recap

SO where do I start!? It’s been about two weeks since I left for the BlissDom Conference. I’m still feeling the BlissDom glow. It was such an amazing experience! Trying to think of how to recap this experience hasn’t been easy. How do you sum up a weekend full of awesome in one blog post? Why not do a top 5? I always love top 5′s. So here it goes, my top 5 things I learned at my first BlissDom:

1 –  ”Knowledge + Passion = Profit” and “Twitter is a conversation not a dictation” – Scott Stratten. {Okay so that was sort of two things but they are both from the same guy so I’m gonna just count it as one}  Scott had the most amazing “on stage personality”. As the opening key note speaker, he got me fired up, excited and ready to start BlissDom {as if I weren’t already excited enough}. I  was literally laughing so hard at his stories and had a huge smile plastered to my face during his entire speech. Full of knowledge, I just loved listening to him and can’t wait to dive into his two books I picked up. Follow him on twitter, he’s beyond awesome.

2. “Creativity is not just about Time Management, it’s Energy Management” – Jon Acuff. Jon was one of my favorite speakers at BlissDom. Not only did his session rock but his speech as the closing Keynote wrapped up the conference so perfectly. During his “3 Stages of an Awesome Idea” session, he talked about energy management. It hit so close to home that I can’t believe I didn’t think about it earlier. His newest book “Start” was given to us at the end of the conference – it’s like the road map to life, I can’t recommend it enough. He tackles fear and why it slows us down. My goal is to not let my fear slow me down.

Want another reason why he’s awesome? Check out this video where he describes how it feels like to wear man spanxs under his shirts, lol – might be kind of hard to hear over our laughter:

3. “The future of business is marketing with people not at people” – John Morgan. John’s session was amazing. Seriously, I say that about every session but it was so true. So many amazing speakers. I digress, back to Mr. Morgan. He layed out 6 keys to Branding. He challenged us with thinking about how we are viewed as a company and how that differs from our competitors. Seriously awesome stuff.

4. “Would you rather be famous or successful?” – Jeff Goins. Great question Jeff. In his writing workshop, Jeff discussed the definition of Craft: An activity involving skill in making things by hand. Writing is a skill. One that I hope to improve on. Ooo and I’d choose success vs fame any day of the week.

5. “You are here for the Magic. There is magic in face to face conversations, shared experiences and meeting people you normally see as avatars on the web” – Alli, Barbara, Paula & The Bliss Chicks. In my opinion this was “the” point of BlissDom. For me, it was about meeting & connecting with amazing people. Listening to their experiences and applying them to my own. It was about taking time for me to grow as a business woman, as a blogger and most importantly as a person. I found out a lot about myself during BlissDom:  going through the workshops, talking to sponsors and meeting new people. I was totally there for the “magic”.

In closing, it was just a wonderful experience. I have lots of resources to go back and do what I need to do, I got to meet some amazing gals {some of whom are pictured below}, and I came home to two happy beautiful children & a sweet hubby. So very thankful that Mr. Darling is so supportive and appreciates his “dude’s only weekends” with his boys when mama is away for the occasional conference. I came back feeling refreshed and ready.

Here are some pictures of my fabulous trip to BlissDom 2013. If you follow me on Instagram chances are good you’ve seen some of these pics. For those of you who don’t, start following me on Instagram @deliciouslydarling. Ooo and while your at it on twitter @ddarlingevents #shamelessplug. First up: Some of my Lovely Friends {Note: wishing I could have grabbed a pic of everyone so if you aren’t below, I’m sorry – I still got mad love for you} -

Deliciously Darling | BlissDom 2013 Recap

1st row|| pic 1: My BlissDom Roomie, Stacy from She’s {Kinda} Crafty. This chick is awesome, I seriously can’t say enough about how sweet, supportive & incredibly talented this lady is. So I have to share a few more pictures of the actual conference:

Deliciously Darling | BlissDom 2013 Recap

row 1 || pic 1:  Seattle’s Best Coffee sponsored breakfast for Day 1. Lots of yummy food and most importantly coffee!!! || pic 2: Photo booth fun with Stacy.  Check this, it was called “Mug Shot” and we stepped into a large mug with straws & whipped cream. Come on, tell me that’s not brilliant!? LOL, it made my morning. || pic 3: Ready to take notes. Organize my sessions with my “Day Designer” by Whitney English {Who was just one of the sweetest people ever. So happy I had a chance to meet her} and my sweet pink notebook that reminded me to leave a little sparkle where ever I go {from Target}.

row 2 || pic 1: Epic present from Stacy. A custom mason jar tumbler. Gotta stay hydrated at conferences and I did it in style. Thanks Stacy! || pic 2: Scott Stratten taking the stage the opening keynote. || pic 3: Scott, Stacy & I. So excited to have him sign a copy of his book.

row 4 || pic 1 & 2: Fun with Johan. Gevalia Kaffe sponsored breakfast for day 2. Most importantly they brought their spokesman “Johan”. He was a good sport when Alejandra & I were posting for pic 1 but his “what is wrong with these chicks” expression cracks me up.  Yes, we are goofballs. || pic 3:  The view from our hotel room in the Gaylord Texas Resort. Such a beautiful resort and the perfect location to have a conference at. Loved it.

row 5 || pic 1: Checking out the Pier 1 Suite at the Exhibit sessions. It was wonderful to be able to chat with the designer that put together the room & I was so pumped to get a $25 gift card. || pic 2:  The “Promise” tree in the Johnson & Johnson suite. Epic. We all wrote down one promise, it could be to yourself, your family, whatever. I promised to spend more time laughing with my kiddos. || pic 3:  Lookin’ stylish for my last night at BlissDom.

row 6 || pic 1: I had to include one little picture of the French Macarons I brought to BlissDom. I stayed up late baking some yummies for some of my sweet friends, especially for Sandy from Firefly Confections {who brought us some of her famous caramels. You haven’t tasted heaven until you have had one of Sandy’s caramels. Not sure how you can taste heaven but you know what I mean!}. || pic 2: Got to meet Ana Gasteyer & Jeremy Sisto from Surburgatory. At this point Jeremy says “What’s your blog?”, I respond with “It’s an entertaining blog called Deliciously Darling”. Ana says “that sounds amazing”. To which I reply “sure is”. Yup. This happen in the few seconds I had to pose for this picture. LOL. Jeremy even did “rollin’ with the homies” for me. Throwback to Clueless. What a good sport. || pic 3: Came back to sweet, happy little boys that seemed to grow so much in the few days I was away from them. Could they be this big and mature sounding? Yup! They had a blast on “Dude’s only Weekend” with darlin’ daddy.

So I have to close out my recap with one more sweet tip from Jon Acuff. Wanna know how to “dominate” Instagram? Tilt your pics to the side. Regular picture = nice. Tilted picture = poem  So now I’m hashtag-ing everything #poem #dominate. Giggle:

Okay so I usually don’t write this much in my blog posts. Desserts, Crafts & Parties are all about images, so THANK YOU for reading this far. I really had a blast and I hope it shows!

A Personal Note

Deliciously Darling | Look at how you Shine, Darling

Image Source

It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks, months really. I just wanted to take a moment and share a personal note. Some of you may have noticed that I’ve gone from “Deliciously Darling Events” to simply “Deliciously Darling”. A newly redesigned blog & updated logo {by the fabulous Michele of Intrigue Design Studio}, new business cards, new branding materials, every-thang new!

Why the change? Well, after many months of running full speed I’ve realized that I need to slow down and enjoy the little moments with my family. My kids are growing so fast – way too fast. My time with them is very precious to me. I’m sure you all feel that way about your families. So I am shifting gears from being an Events company to inspiring others to create their own events. Sharing more tutorials, recipes and more inspiration. I’m hoping to inspire you to find that planner hidden in you. I will still take on the occasional client but only the handful that truly inspire me to create something fresh & different.

In addition to my focus to inspire others, I’ll also be opening a wee-little Etsy shop in the next few weeks. I plan on selling party decor from my past & future events as well as little adorable party items. I don’t plan on becoming a party supply shop, there are so many amazing ladies with amazing party supply shops out there.

I want to thank each and every one of you! You guys give me the motivation to Shine. You all inspire me so much & your support means the world to me. Thank you for taking the time to read posts, to flip through albums, to comment, to “like” & to “share”. You guys are incredible.

Adorable Easter Chick Dessert Table

Deliciously Darling | Easter Chick Dessert Table #easter #yellow Happy Monday!!! Bringing you just a little bit of sunshine today {since it is gloomy in Atlanta} with an Adorable Easter Chick Dessert table. Since we will be celebrating Easter at Epcot this year we celebrated Easter early. Truth be told, we celebrated Easter on St. Patty’s Day.

Inspiration: Ever since I saw the Movie hop, I kept thinking about the having a little chick Easter party. I walked through Sur la Table and saw the cutest Yellow Chick cake stand, had to get it – justified it by saying it’s the centerpiece to my chick party but honestly, I couldn’t resist the cuteness! There is something bright and refreshing about a yellow color pallet. So I went through my party supply stash and pulled out a few pieces to pull together this sweet little dessert table. Sweet & Simple.

Huge thank you to Kathi from My Sweet Things for creating the adorable yellow ribbon cake & chick cookies. Seriously, the cookies are too cute and just delicious. DIY Glitter Note Cards

Deliciously Darling | DIY Glitter Notecards

Happy Glittery Tuesday! Today’s tutorial is all about glitter note cards. I’ve been deep in the re-branding process – from updating the logo, website, business cards, etc. I noticed I needed to create some sweet little note cards, glittery of course!

Deliciously Darling | DIY Glitter Notecards

All you are going to need are the following items, most of which can be found at your local Michael’s Craft Store:

- Your favorite stamp {Note: Any stamp will do, think Easter ones for little Easter note cards or “Thank you” stamps for Thank you notes. You get the idea.}

- Recollections Glitter {I used Antique Gold}

- Martha Stewart Crafts Glue Pad

-  Blank Note cards

- Glitter catching tray {A paper plate will do but I do love my little Recollections Glitter Tray}

Deliciously Darling | DIY Glitter Notecards

In 4 easy steps you’ll have your little glitter note card:

1. Pour the glue on the glue pad per directions on the package

2. Press stamp on glue pad then press onto your note card.

3. Sprinkle glitter on the note card

4. Dust your note card off with a clean brush to get loose glitter off and do a little happy dance. Don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for being so Crafty.

I start with beauty items because I’m obsessed with beauty products. Natch. Here are my beauty must-haves for this trip. {Note: Even if you aren’t going on a trip anywhere, you really need these items in your life. Tell your hubby it’s all Dina’s fault for your new purchases. Giggle.}

1. Cha Cha Tint by Benefit. Love me some sun-kissed tint.

2. Dior Show Mascara. One word: Amazing.

3.  Urban Decay’s Oz Makeup Palettes. So much awesome in such a compact case. I’m totally a Theodora.

4. Jo Malone Cologne in Grapefruit. I’m a minimalist when it comes to fragrance. I adore Jo Malone.

5. Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 30. I’m an spf addict, this is just perfection + I’m a huge PTR addict.

So what’s in your beauty bag?

Occasions Expo Recap

Hello my sweet friends! The last week has been busy busy busy at Deliciously Darling! Lots of crafting, lots of baking and lots of prep for my booth at the Occasions Magazine Expo. First of all, I was really impressed with the Events industry in Atlanta. Everyone brought their A game. Booths adorned with Ribbon trees, ghost chairs & paisley {from the awesome Elly B Events} to hanging hundreds of paper cranes {from the talented F & G Weddings}, to my sweet booth {literally sweet}.  Ombre Pink Rosette cake, cupcakes, sugar cookies, cheesecake in jars, strawberry milk shooters and donuts. It was a sweets explosion.  Huge thank you to Kathi from My Sweet Things for creating the stunning cake {last minute no less}.

I loved chatting with Brides-to-be, Mitzvah moms, and Party Enthusiast  My favorite part was meeting new people in the Events industry. Yummy caters, amazing venues, talented photographers and awesome event planners. I had the pleasure of chatting with Winston Walker {from Images by Winston Photography}, an Atlanta Wedding Photographer, and he was kind enough to snap some beautiful pictures of my booth & me in action! His work is beautiful and I look forward to working with him in the future.

Another huge thank you to Heather from Occasions Magazine for the opportunity to be at her Expo. It was an amazing show and a wonderful experience.
