Pink & Gold Wedding

It’s Thursday, so why not make it a Throwback Thursday? A months ago, literally a week before Hurricane Sandy, I packed buckets and buckets of wedding items into a van and drove up {with my two boys} to New York City to style my cousin’s wedding. Remember my behind the scenes post? It was such an amazing experience and I’m so excited to share the beautiful images with you all.

I teamed up with my cousin Reema {the groom’s sister} and the beautiful & creative Bride-to-be Neveen. I just have to say, we make a wonderful team. Neveen wanted her wedding to be soft, romantic & filled with pink & gold accents. She found the perfect location for a dream wedding. This venue was right on the Hudson River and overlooked NYC.

My cousin Reema is an incredible baker and took on creating the cupcakes {pumpkin & french vanilla}, chocolate covered oreos, wedding cake, cookie favors and french macarons! Not to mention, waking up to help style the wedding.

Not only did I have a chance to create all the paperie items but I got to play florist! Didn’t the Bride’s bouquet turn out amazing!? I hope you enjoy the pictures. It was such an amazing & sweet wedding.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Good Morning Lovelies! I am a peanut butter addict. On toast, in my oatmeal and most importantly in cookie form! Sharing my super duper peanut butter cup cookie recipe today. Peanut butter + mini peanut butter cups = one amazingly awesome cookie.

Ingredients:

1 stick of softened butter

1/3 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

1 3/4 cup of flour

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1 cup of smooth peanut butter

12 oz of mini peanut butter cups for baking {I love the Trader Joe tiny PB cups}

yields approximately 24 cookies

Directions:

1 – Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2 – Add the butter, brown sugar & granulated sugar to your mixer. Using the paddle attachment whip the ingredients until fluffy {approx. 2 minutes on medium}. Be sure to stop and scrape down the sides.

3 – Stop mixer and add egg and vanilla and continue to beat mixture for another 2 minutes.

4 – Stop mixer and add 1 cup of peanut butter then mix until well blended.

5 – Turn mixer to lowest setting and add flour, baking soda and salt.

7 – Once mixture looks like it is coming together add the mini peanut butter cups to the mixture. Tip: Add very soon after you add the flour mixture.

6 – Scoop mixture using a small to medium size cookie scoop on to parchment paper. It is okay if the cookies appear to be like little ice cream scoops.

7 – Bake for 12-14 minutes {one cookie sheet at a time, in the center rack}.

8 – Pour yourself a glass of milk because these cookies are peanut buttery!

Note:

Make sure to mix the flour, baking soda and salt together before you add it to your peanut butter, egg mixture.

My oven tends to cook them faster, so I cook them for 12 minutes.

If you wanted it extra chocolaty add some chocolate chips to it, makes a delicious cookie even better.

Happy Baking!

xoxo – Dina

Valentine’s Day Treat Bag Ideas

Raise your hands if you love paper treat bags! {My hand is raised} Today I’ve come up with a few ideas to help you jazz up those adorable little bags for your upcoming Valentine’s Day treats. Not just one way to decorate your treat bags but for adorable ways: Chevron & Lace, Polkadot & Rosette, I love Twine, and Washi tape treat bags.

Special thank you to Waiting on Martha for the treat bags, twine & washi tape.

 Chevron & Lace Treat Bags

You will need:

Treat bags:  Waiting on Martha || Lace Doilies: Target’s Dollar Section || Martha Stewart Scrapbook paper, Heart Punch and glue gun: Michael’s Craft Store

Directions:

You will need 5 doilies. Take one doilie and fold in half. Fold again in half and place a drop of glue on it so that the doilie remains in triangle form. Continue to make 3 more triangle doilies. Glue all for triangle doilies onto the 5th doilie to form the ruffled lace circle above. Then finish with a heart punched from scrapbook paper. I picked glittery paper in latest Martha Stewart Valentine’s Day Scrapbook paper pack.

These treat bags were inspired by the adorable party from Frog Prince Paperie, I just love how she used the doilie rosettes.

Polka dot & Rosette Treat Bags

You will need:

Treat bags:  Waiting on Martha ||  Martha Stewart Scrapbook paper,  Scoring Board & Round and Heart Punch, craft scissors and glue gun: Michael’s Craft Store

Directions:

Take a blank piece of paper and punch out a 2″ circle and set aside. Pick out your favorite sheet of scrapbook paper and place it on your scoring board. Score a 1.5 inch line down and cut it out with your favorite craft scissors. These are my favorite craft scissors, I love the little design it makes when turned into a rosette. Once you have your 1.5 inch strip of paper, lay it horizontally on the scoring board and begin to score .5 inch lines all the way down the strip. Once you are done fold up the paper into an accordion then open it back up. Here’s the tricky part, glue your two ends together and push the paper down on one side to form the rosette. Glue the rosette down onto the round piece of paper that you punched out and set aside. Finally, punch out your heart and glue it to the rosette and now you are ready to glue the rosette to your bag and fill with treats.

I love Twine Treat Bags

You will need:

Treat bags:  Waiting on Martha || Sewing Kit: Target, craft section || Twine: Waiting on Martha

Directions:

Open your sewing box and pull out the needle, your favorite design and scoring tool. Using a ruler, score a line across the treat bag. Thread the needle included in the box with your baker’s twine. Begin sewing your bag and finish it off with a twine yarn ball &  a glittery paper heart.

Washi Tape Glassine Treat Bags

You will need:

Treat bags & Washi Tape:  Waiting on Martha || Mini Glittered Clothing Pins: Michael’s Craft Store

Directions:

Grab your favorite tape and use a ruler to make sure you are applying it straight on your glassine bag. Alternate washi tape designs and finish off with an adorable glittered pin.

Happy Crafting.

All You Need is Love Pink Dessert Table

So very excited to share my “All you need is love” dessert table with you all today! Created for Occasions Magazine’s Winter Issue, I’ve been waiting so patiently to share this with everyone. Remember the rest of the beautiful photo-shoot? Well this is my favorite part of the shoot, the desserts! I am so honored to have it recently featured on Half Baked, The Cake Blog.

All you need is Love” – Famous words, a beautiful song, and cherished motto. I wanted to put together a romantic dessert table that would capture love. With shades of pink, gold and silver with vintage & glam touches that came together so beautifully. Desserts in pinks, creams and chocolates came together in a delicious way. This stunning dessert table included three perfectly pipped cakes (each with their own icing technique), Pink cake pops with gold and silver details, mini sugar donuts, cupcakes with custom edible fondant toppers, whoopie pies and individual napa valley chocolate cheesecakes, chocolate covered oreos with lace detail, custom heart sugar cookies and of course perfect pink french macarons. These desserts are stunningly displayed on JCT Kitchen’s rustic table accented with a pink runner from I Do Linens and a fun and beautiful tassel garland from The Flair Exchange. Not to mention the gorgeous cake stands from Waiting on Martha & The TomKat Studio Shop.

M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies

Good Morning Lovelies!  Love is in the air, can you smell it? No? Well after testing out batch after batch of cookies – love is definitely in the air in my house. Today, I’m sharing my absolute go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Add a little Valentines Day M&Ms and you have the perfect little treat.

Ingredients:

1 stick of softened butter

1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

1 3/4 cup of flour

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 bag of Valentines Day M&Ms

yields approximately 24 cookies

4 – Turn mixer to lowest setting and add flour, baking soda and salt.

5 – Once mixture looks like it is coming together add chocolate chips and mix.

6 – Scoop mixture using a small to medium size cookie scoop on to parchment paper. It is okay if the cookies appear to be like little ice cream scoops.

7 – Add M&M’s to tops of cookie dough balls and gently press in to dough but be careful not to flatten dough, you want them to still look round. Bake for 12-14 minutes {one cookie sheet at a time, in the center rack}.

Note: My oven tends to cook them faster, so I go for 12 minutes. They will be pretty gooey when the come out of the oven but will come together in about 30 minutes.

Happy Baking!

“All You Need is Love” Engagement Party Inspiration

A few months ago, I got a call from Occasions Magazine requesting a Valentine’s day themed shoot. My first in print full feature! I jumped, squealed and did a little dance. Brainstorming ideas, I decided to go with an Engagement party on Valentine’s Day. What better way to capture love?!  The shoot included tablescape, dessert table {sharing those pics very soon}, a Champagne bar, photo booth, candy favor table & a Love notes for the Bride table.  Here’s my inspiration for the shoot:

“All you need is Love” – Famous words, a beautiful song, and cherished motto. I wanted to put together a engagement party that would capture love. With shades of pink, gold and silver with vintage & glam touches that came together so beautifully.

I’ve been dying to share this with you all. It’s been months and months and I’m so excited to finally share it! This shoot wouldn’t have turned out so beautifully without the help of Mandy Rye from Waiting on Martha. Not only does she have amazing taste and helped with the venue, the serving pieces and set up but she was one of my models. Big huge thank you to my sweet friend Lauren from Lauren Nicole Studios. She is such a talented photographer and I just adore working with her.
